About Karen

Karen Gilston Karen Gilston is an English Interior Designer and Artist from Northwich England.

Whilst having her own successful business back in England and having many qualifications in Interior Design, she decided to expand her knowledge base and went back to college to study and earned an associates degree in Architectural Technology.

Karen has 18 years experience in Interior Design and 11 years in Architectural Design. Upon qualifying in Architectural technology, she was head hunted and went to work for a renowned Architectural practice as a Spacial and Interior Design Consultant.

During this time Karen spent 5 years as a college tutor,  she tutored on Faux Finishing, Interior Design, Spacial Design and Interior Soft Furnishings.

Karen and her husband migrated to Baton Rouge Oct 2004, where she volunteered for a non profit organization helping to rebuild New Orleans after Katrina, she worked in New Orleans for 18 months. using  her experience in Interior/Architectural Design and construction.

She  moved to Simsbury Connecticut, just over 4 years ago where she expanded the business to include house staging and her art work which she is now showing in local galleries. After a postponed attempt to show in London, due to the volcano she is now hoping to show early next year.

Karen spends a great deal of her time working with, and for charities as well as her roll as  Secretary at her local Rotary club, she is also  member of Soroptimist international, and has become very involved with  Grace Academy in Hartford, (a local nativity school) as a guest art and geography  tutor.

Karen always busy and looking for other ways to expand her horizons has been working on a book project for several months, and has decided to take up her long time ambition of flying and is in the process of taking her pilots licence.
